Ray White Bream Bay have sponsored the Community Mentor Driver Programme, in association with RoadSafe Northland and Future Build LVL to prepare people for their restricted and full drivers licence tests. Future Build has undertaken to co-ordinate the programme, linking learner drivers with volunteer driver mentors and organizing timetables. Gillian Archer of the Northland Road Safety Trust has a team of people ready to train to become driver mentors helping people to prepare for their restricted and full drivers licence tests.
It is recognized that not having a licence driver’s licence can be an impediment to getting getting a job and those who repeatedly drive without licences can find themselves on the wrong side of the law, collecting fines for repeated offences, and sometimes to imprisonment.
Katie Hirst of Futurebuild LVL is working towards the programme beginning on 6 January 2020.
People can start registering their interest in being mentored by calling 0800 CHH LVL (244 585).
