Crafty kids couldn’t contain the excitement of selling their home

By Rochelle Tipler

Lockdown couldn’t crush the dreams of vendors Emma and Jae, and their two children, at 20 Mamaku Drive, One Tree Point, who sold their home on Friday night.

When Ray White Bream Bay salesperson James Alexander couldn’t get the sold sign to the property due to level 4 restrictions, the vendors’ children, Harper and Harry (pictured above),  took matters into their own hands.

“We couldn’t get the sold sign to the location, so I told the vendors I’d have to drop the sign off when Covid levels permitted, but Emma said the kids were so excited, they made their own,” Mr Alexander said.

“I thought it was such a lovely feel-good thing at this time.

“The kids were just so stoked they could now plan to move onto their new dream home with their family.”

Emma and Jae had purchased a place closer to the ocean, following their dream of owning a home with views of the sea.

Mr Alexander said they had an offer on the Mamaku Drive property right before lockdown hit.

“We had the lockdown announcement and I wondered if it would scare the buyers away,” Mr Alexander said.

“I couldn’t let lockdown crush the families dream, so we boxed on under ministry of health and REA guidelines and a multi offer evolved the very next day after the lockdown announcement. By Friday it was unconditional.

“I was just determined not to let the curtain close and let Covid rain on their parade!

“They realised their dream and got what they wanted despite the lockdown trying to crush it.”

Mr Alexander said the new owners had been looking for a long time before falling in love with the 20 Mamaku Drive home.

“They loved this one as soon as they saw it,”

“They had to compete with another buyer and ended up paying more than they wanted, but it was a great result for both parties.”
