The best way to start the New Year!

The Waipu Highland Games have been held in the centre of town for the past 149 years.

This iconic event draws thousands to compete in or to watch the Highland Heavyweights toss massive cabers or hurl huge hammers.
Scottish dancing is at the highest level you will see anywhere, as is the piping, fiddling and drumming.

There is heaps to do all day for the whole family with plenty for the kids to get involved in. A large number of vendors provide yummy food and drink for the huge crowd.

So many come to get their Scottish fix for the year. Jan 1 in the Caledonian Park Waipu.
